Nighttime entertainment in forty The Hague museums

Opening
The official opening of the Museum Night will take place on 7 September at 19:30 at the Koninklijke Schouwburg (Royal Theatre). The evening will be kicked off by Frank and Guus van der Steen of The Hague’s ‘crossover cult rap group’ Kern Koppen (Warheads). Video and light art and a dance performance by Juvat Westendorp (So You Think You Can Dance) complete the performance.

Museum Night
Other special programmes can be found in all other participating museums and cultural institutions throughout The Hague and Scheveningen. The Tweede Kamer (Dutch House of Parliamentary Representatives) will also remain open until late at night, Sjaak Bral will give a workshop ‘Haags lullûh’ (which literally means ‘talking in a The Hague accent’) in the Haags Historisch Museum (The Hague Historical Museum) and fearless wildlife enthusiasts will literally come into contact with giant spiders in Muzee Scheveningen. Additionally, visitors to Humanity House at Human Rights Tattoo can stand up for the interests of universal human rights in a special way by tattooing a letter of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on their body. To top it all off, you can win a unique work of art from the latest exhibition ‘Moods’ by top photographer Hans Willink in various museums.

Kids Night Route
After the success of last year, a Kids Night Route will be organised again this year. Children from 4 to 12 years old are allowed into the 15 participating institutions free of charge. They can paint with light at the Galerij Prins Willem V, sail on the prince and princesses boat van Willemsvaart, participate in the “Battle of the DJs’ at the Museon or play the lead role in the performance of Aadje Piraatje at the Gemeentemuseum (Municipal Museum).

After Party
Got a Taste for More at the Museum Night? The notorious night owls will also get their kicks at the after party’s in the Boterwaag and Supermarket Den Haag. The after party’s this year have the theme of Dance Classics and Modern Art: the best of Indie, Dubstep & Dance.
