First Images of The Conscious Hotel Westergasfabriek

Though we still have to wait a bit longer for the opening, Conscious Hotels is already teasing us with images of what the rooms in the coming hotel on the Westergasfabriek terrain will look like. The sustainable hotel chain is working on their fourth hotel in one of the monumental buildings, which will be the first to operate fully on wind power. The hotel is expected to open in the second quarter of 2018.

The hotel is a great addition for organizers of events at the Westergasfabriek. On the terrain of the Westergasfabriek are numerous special locations for meetings and events, but a hotel was still missing. In addition to hotel rooms there will be a bar-restaurant in the building where biological foods and drinks are served all day. Biological products are also served in the hotel lobby.

Sustainability plays an important role during the development of the hotel with 89 rooms: from the fact that it’s a renovation to the interior which is made of eco-materials, to a 100% biological menu in the restaurant. The elegantly designed rooms with high ceilings have cradle-to-cradle Royal Auping beds and Senso cast floor.

The owners of the Westergasfabriek, Ton Meijer and Maya Miejer-Bergmans, have been devoted to making the cultural heritage of the Westergasfabriek more sustainable for years. “The complex has undergone a huge development from polluted industrial estate to sustainable cultural park. Conscious Hotels is all about sustainability, so this is an important step in achieving our ambition,” says Meijer-Bergmans.

Sustainable Hotel

The founders of Conscious Hotels, Marco Lemmers and Sam Cohen, share this ambition. “We are the first sustainable hotel chain in the Netherlands and have been making an effort for the planet for years. Conscious Hotel Westergasfabriek is the fourth hotel of the hotel group. The chain already opened The Conscious Hotel Museum Square, Vondelpark and The Tire Station. The latter is available for a wide range of sustainable meetings and events.
