5 Hidden Outdoor Venues in the City Centre of Amsterdam

Event organizers look for great venues, make them look nice with the most beautiful decorations and hire the best entertainers. But put people together in the sun and there’s no need for anything else. With the summer coming up, it’s time to take your event outside! In the city centre, you’ll be hard pressed to find event venues with outside spaces – especially for larger groups. We managed to find five outside locations in the city centre of Amsterdam!
STRANDZUID
What better place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city than the beach? Strandzuid takes the beach to the city, including laid back beach vibes. The trendy beach location is located right behind the RAI, right in the middle of a green park, making it the ultimate ‘City Escape’ for both trade fair and conference visitors and for companies on the Zuidas. At Rosarium, the fresh outdoor air is never far away. The event venue is located in the beautiful wooded area of the Amstelpark, directly along the ring road and the Zuidas. With stylish rooms and refined culinary care, Rosarium is one of the most complete locations for meetings and events in Amsterdam. Looking for a location for a team meeting, a big conference or an evening party for up to 500 guests? Thanks to flexible walls, the twelve spaces (each with large windows and views of the greenery), can be set up as desired. And through the French doors you have your own private terrace, right in the middle of the park!
HET SCHEEPVAARTMUSEUM
Enjoy an outdoor event as well as the impressive setting of the Scheepvaartmuseum (Maritime Museum)? Soon, this becomes a reality. And no, we’re not talking about the roofed courtyard of the Scheepvaartmuseum here. Sure, under the glass roof of the courtyard you have a beautiful starry sky, but technically it doesn’t count as ‘outside’. This summer, the Scheepvaartmuseum will have a new floating terrace, on pontoons right on the doorstep! The terrace will be used particularly for events and it’s directly accessible from the event rooms. KONINKLIJK INSTITUUT VOOR DE TROPEN
The Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen (Royal Tropical Institute) offers an oasis of outdoor peace, right in the middle of the bustling East Amsterdam. At the backside of the historic building in the Oosterpark, there’s a well-hidden courtyard garden. On the terrace around the pond you can organize events for up to 2000 people! Combine a corporate event in one of the beautiful monumental rooms with a drink on the terrace, or create a complete conference festival right in the middle of the city. NEMO SCIENCE MUSEUM
The special copper green building with its oblique roof of the Nemo Science Museum is one of the most striking buildings in the city centre of Amsterdam. On top of the roof you have a great view over the city centre and you can experience an unprecedented sense of wideness and tranquility. After closing hours of the museum, the terrace is available to be rented out exclusively for events. It’s hard to imagine a more impressive place to receive your guests here after a day of gaining knowledge in one of the halls downstairs. A cosy drink, live music, or even an outdoor food festival are all possible!
